The lecture will concentrate on what’s normal and abnormal in the neonate. What can be done in the field and what is a situation likely to need a referral. Specific points will emphasize sepsis, hypothyroid foals in the PNW, and neonatal maladjustment syndrome.
Dr. Jenifer Gold graduated from a dual program at Washington State University/Oregon State University in 2002. She then completed a rotating internship in equine medicine and surgery at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in 2003, followed by a 3-year residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at Cornell University-Diplomate American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. She was in private practice for 2 years before taking a clinical assistant professor position at Texas A&M University Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences. During the time at Texas A&M, she completed a 2-year fellowship in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. Dr. Gold became a Diplomate of American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care-Large Animal. She is a Clinical Associate Professor in Equine Internal Medicine at WSU.
