WSVMA DVM: Masterclass Webinar – Integrative Medicine: How Acupuncture and Herbs Enhance Patient Care

February 26, 2021

Join us Tuesday, Mar. 16, 2021, at 12 pm for our webinar Integrative Medicine: How Acupuncture and Herbs Enhance Patient Care with Nell Ostermiere, DVM, CVA, FAAVA. Are you curious about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture? Are you thinking of integrating these modalities into your current practice? Or, would you just like some information on how these tools can help your patients so that you can refer with confidence? Those are the questions Dr. Ostermiere will answer during this session that focuses on the benefits of Integrative Medicine. This will primarily be a case-based presentation with real-world examples of how acupuncture and herbs can improve patient outcomes. She will also provide a brief introduction to TCM theory along with translations of basic concepts into Western terms. The goal is to improve understanding around how TCM and Western medicine can work synergistically to enhance healing and happiness in our veterinary patients.

Dr. Nell Ostermiere has been practicing Integrative Medicine for over 10 years in Portland, Oregon. She has been an educator for the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) since 2013, earned advanced certification through the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture (AAVA) in 2019, and has spoken at national and international conferences. In addition to working with dogs, cats and rabbits regularly, Dr. Ostermiere has utilized acupuncture and acupressure to assist in the treatments of multiple species including horses and sea turtles. Nell’s mission is to make integrative medicine accessible to animals around the world while simultaneously increasing happiness in the veterinary field.
