WSVMA DVM: Masterclass Webinar – Diarrhea, Metabolic Acidosis, and Fluid Therapy in Dairy Calves

October 8, 2021

Join us Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, at 12pm for our webinar Diarrhea, Metabolic Acidosis, and Fluid Therapy in Dairy Calves, Updates with Dr. Francisco Leal-Yepes, sponsored by WSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Diarrhea and other gastrointestinal problems are the more significant cause of morbidity and mortality in dairy calves. Prevention has been the most successful practice to reduce mortality associated with diarrhea in neonate dairy calves. However, a better understanding of the metabolic unbalance in diarrheic dairy calves will facilitate the formulation of appropriate support therapies in the field.

Dr. Francisco Leal Yepes is originally from Colombia, where he obtained his DVM degree. In 2011, he moved to Ithaca, NY, and worked for two years as a research assistant. Then, he started his Ph.D. in 2013 and a residency in Ambulatory and Production Medicine in 2016 at Cornell University. From 2018 until 2020, Franco was a Clinical Instructor in Ambulatory and Production Medicine at Cornell University. He provided primary care to dairy farms in upstate NY while teaching senior veterinary students. Franco started as an assistant professor of Agricultural Animal Production at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Washington State University in October 2020.

All monthly webinars are free for members. They’re recorded and made available on-demand, accessible through the WSVMA website under CE Events/DVM Masterclass. Recorded webinars provide a link to take an exam at the end so that credit can be received for non-live CE.

Note: Through the end of 2021, the Veterinary Board of Governors removed the limitation on the number of pre-recorded webinars that qualify for your total CE hours.

Whether you can join us live or later, don’t miss this important webinar. Register online at the WSVMA website. See the full Masterclass calendar here. And don’t forget to check out our catalog of on-demand and Covid-19 webinars. We’re bringing timely topics in a convenient format meant to benefit you and your practice.
