Updated COVID-19 Reopening Guide for veterinary practices available now

April 2, 2021

In response to loosening restrictions, the WSVMA is releasing an updated version of COVID-19: A Guide to Reopening Veterinary Medicine in Washington – Phase 3 to give additional information for practices as more people become vaccinated and counties begin to allow more people to gather. The guide, written by well-known expert Scott Weese, DVM, DVSc, DACVIM in partnership with the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, lays out a comprehensive plan to implement appropriate measures to continue ensuring the health and safety of both veterinary clients and practice staff as we move slowly towards some version of normal.

Should we keep doing curbside?

Only if you want to continue to stay safe and prevent infection. Washington state and the rest of the country are not yet out of the woods. CDC has indicated a fourth wave of infections is likely. We know everyone is anxious to get back to normal, but this isn’t time to let your guard down.

The WSVMA has no regulatory authority to tell you how to practice with regard to curbside service and whether to allow clients inside. It’s recommended to continue following CDC guidelines and the information provided in the Reopening Guide and take precautions while we continue to work our way through this pandemic.

The Guide is available on our website under COVID-19 Resources/WSVMA Alerts. Download the Guide here.
