Updated advisory on Governor Proclamation 20-40.2

December 3, 2020

Upon further review and discussion about Gov. Inslee’s Proclamation 20-24.2 “Reducing Restrictions on, and Safe Expansion of, Non-Urgent Medical and Dental Procedures.”, we are pleased to announce to veterinary practices in Washington that non-urgent medical procedures may continue and it is up to you to self-regulate capacity for care based upon parameters outlined in the proclamation.

Curbside Practice is Essential

It is most critical is that you should continue practicing curbside during this time. We continue to receive reports that some practices are operating pre-pandemic business as usual. If you have not instituted curbside protocols and employed the use of telemedicine and other practical methods, it’s highly advisable that you start now.

As we continue to work our way through this pandemic, we must continue to exercise good judgment when determining how to provide necessary veterinary care within the context of our patients’ needs, PPE supply, and the health care capabilities and capacity of our local communities. A one-size-fits-all approach is not the right path going forward.

The safety of our patients and our teams is our foremost concern. We applaud everyone following guidance.
