Dr. Sandy Willis has been one of the most visible veterinarians in our state serving in several organizations that have promoted and highlighted the profession of veterinary medicine.

After Sandy graduated from the veterinary school at UC Davis in 1984, she completed an internship at the University of Minnesota and a residency at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan.  She then spent five years with Hill’s Pet Nutrition Inc. as Veterinary Affairs Manager, providing continuing education at schools of veterinary medicine and veterinary technology.  She was Director of Veterinary and Customer Affairs for Hill’s Canada before moving to Washington State.  For ten years, she served as an internist for Phoenix Central Laboratory before joining Antech to oversee their Seattle laboratory.

For her extracurricular activities, Dr Willis has been closely associated with the ACVIM on the Public Relations Committee.  She helped set up an extensive media and marketing program and the formation of student chapters along with a communication forum within the organization.  Sandy has been the chairman of the WSVMA annual continuing education program as well as serving on several other committees on the state and local Seattle-King county associations.  In addition, she helped create the Safeway-Veterinary Strategic Alliance program on public information as well as hosting a veterinary radio talk show.  In her spare time, she serves on boards for the Seattle-King County Humane Society and the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research.

Dr. Sandy Willis has truly been an outstanding veterinarian for our profession and follows in a long line of past presidents who have given a large part of their life for the promotion of veterinary medicine.
