AVMA COE seeks volunteers to serve as site visitors

December 17, 2021

Would you like to help protect and elevate the quality of veterinary medical education? The AVMA Council on Education® (AVMA COE®) is preparing to train new college site visitors in 2022 and now is your chance to apply.

Veterinarians interested in becoming veterinary college site visitors have until January 15, 2022, to submit applications.

Site visitors review a college’s self-study, verify its information during a comprehensive visit at the college, and submit a report to the AVMA COE. They make recommendations to the COE but do not attend council meetings, discuss findings, or otherwise participate in accreditation decisions.

The AVMA COE provides training to all volunteers before they begin taking part in site visits. Anyone who submits an application during the current period must be available for the 2022 training session, which will be conducted September 16-18, 2022, in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Veterinarians engaged in all facets of veterinary medicine are encouraged to apply. The work performed by site visitors is integral to the AVMA COE’s ongoing process of accrediting and reviewing the education provided by veterinary medical colleges.
