Small cell lymphoma is one of the cancers most diagnosed in the cat and one of the most rewarding cancers to treat. Managing feline small cell lymphoma can be done in general practice with caution and respect for chemotherapy. This lecture will cover the common behavior of this disease, a typical treatment course, and troubleshooting when the disease course doesn’t follow the textbook.
Dr. Rizzo received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 from Western University of Health Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine in Pomona, California. She completed a 1-year rotating internship in surgery and internal medicine in 2011 at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls, NJ. Finally, it was at Cornell University where she completed a 3-year residency in medical oncology. She became board certified in 2015. While at work, she strives to serve not only her patients and their families but the entire support team. Veterinary technicians, assistants, and client service representatives are the beating heart of any veterinary clinic and it is impossible to thank them too often for their selflessness, technical skill, devotion, compassion, and all-around support. The best veterinarians are only that with the support of the whole team and Dr. Rizzo is no exception. Dr. Rizzo is honored and grateful to be serving the needs of pets with cancer, their families, and the veterinary support staff on the beautiful Kitsap Peninsula.
