Volunteers needed: Animal wellness clinic for people facing homelessness with pets

August 26, 2022

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of your low-income neighbors with pets? Then we have a great volunteer opportunity for you!

To raise awareness of World Rabies Day in September – and the importance of vaccinating pets against infectious diseases – several animal welfare partners across King County are organizing a multi-site vaccination clinic for people who are unsheltered or low-income with pets.

Volunteers for all roles are needed – especially veterinarians and veterinary technicians!

The clinic will be held on Saturday, September 24 from 12-3 pm at three locations around King County:

  • Kent
  • Georgetown (Seattle)
  • White Center (Seattle)

They will offer wellness care (vaccines, microchips, and flea medication) as well as some human healthcare.

Partners include Doney Coe Pet Clinic, One Health Clinic, Regional Animal Services of King County, Seattle Animal Shelter, and Seattle Humane.

Offering this clinic in September creates an opportunity to educate the community about zoonotic diseases and ensure that pets in our community are vaccinated for rabies, one of the most fatal diseases on the planet that still kills about 59,000 people each year.
