Lindsey Hornickel, DVM, MPH has received the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Executive Branch Fellowship for 2021-22. As a fellow, she’ll serve a year-long assignment in a selected area of the executive branch of the federal government in Washington, D.C. tackling important societal challenges and participating in policy development and implementation. Dr. Hornickel has served as the WSVMA Power of Ten Coach and currently serves on the WSVMA Board of Directors. Her departure leaves a big hole in WSVMA leadership and she will be greatly missed.
Dale Moore, DVM, MS, MPVM, WSU College of Veterinary Medicine, is this year’s recipient of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis, Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. The award honors UC Davis alumni whose career reflects exemplary and outstanding performance and achievements. Dr. Moore has dedicated her career to preventative veterinary medicine for dairy cattle and training veterinarians. Dr. Moore currently serves on the WSVMA Program Committee and the WSVMA Antimicrobial Resistance Working Group.
Greg Benoit, DVM, MS, owner of SouthCare Animal Medical Center in Spokane, has been appointed to serve on the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education (WICHE) Veterinary Medicine Advisory Council. The Council advises the WICHE Commission on matters related to veterinary medicine, the vet med student pipeline and recruitment, student success initiatives, and opportunities for collaboration across colleges and states in the West.
