Our hearts go out to the people of Hawaii for the devastation and loss they’ve suffered due to the wildfires this week. News reports put the Maui death toll at 55 as of Aug. 11. It’s unknown how many animals may have perished or been displaced. According to a report from the AVMA, the Hawaii VMA (HVMA) is recommending that donations go to the Maui Humane Society. HVMA is sending member veterinarians to Maui to assess the situation and see how they can assist the Maui Humane Society. Further reports indicate that Greater Good Charities is moving food, vaccines, and topical parasiticides to the area.
