Religion plays an important role in many people’s lives. It affects our world views, the choices we make, and our interactions with other people. Different religious traditions also approach human-animal relationships and the nature of animal life in very different ways.
A new learning module from Journey for Teams challenges us to examine how religious and spiritual beliefs impact our interactions with animals, co-workers, and clients.
Called Understanding Religious Diversity, it shows how raising awareness and respectfully acknowledging one another’s different spiritual beliefs, including those of people who identify as non-religious, can improve our relationships and lead to better patient outcomes. And it provides practical suggestions to create a pathway to implement meaningful changes in our veterinary practices and other workplaces.
Understanding Religious Diversity is the ninth educational module released by Journey for Teams. View it on the Journey for Teams website.
Journey for Teams releases a new learning module every month, exploring topics that deepen our understanding of and support for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The program was developed by the AVMA in partnership with the Veterinary Medical Association Executives.
