I am Emma Potter, a third-year vet student at Washington State University. I wanted to share this fantastic opportunity with you all! The AVMA Political Action Committee (PAC) is hosting the Alumni Derby. This fundraiser is unique in the fact that it not only supports the work of the AVMA PAC, but also the local SAVMA Chapter from the school you graduated.
The AVMA PAC helps veterinarians build relationships with lawmakers, amplifying the AVMA’s voice in policy discussions on Capitol Hill. A present example of their efforts is their work to advocate for the Combating Illicit Xylazine Act, the Healthy Dog Importation Act, and many other issues that impact the veterinary industry. To learn more about the PAC Board and the important work they do, follow this link. https://www.avma.org/advocacy
The AVMA represents the interests of veterinarians across the country through strategically targeted advocacy work. Learn what AVMA is doing to advance veterinary medicine, and get involved with tools that make your advocacy work more effective.
The Derby is an opportunity to provide your support to the AVMA PAC and your Local SAVMA Chapter. While donations can be of any size, a donation of $60 will also enroll you in the Coffee Club (more info on the website). Donations can be made with AVMA dues renewal, online, or in-person at the AVMA Convention. The Derby will be running until Sunday, July 16 (During the AVMA Convention). The results of the Derby will be announced at the AVMA PAC Happy Hour on the 16th. Important note, the Derby is measured by the respective number of participants. Any donation can change up the leaderboard of the Derby. Right now, even increasing the contributor number by one makes a huge difference.
