Join AVMA’s Matthew Salois, Ph.D. on Thurs., Nov. 18, 2021, at 11:30 am as he presents a birds-eye view – through a business lens – of what’s ahead for veterinary medicine based on information shared at the AVMA Business and Economic Forum held in October. In his webinar, “From Concepts to Actions: A high-level review of the AVMA Business and Economic Forum,” he will provide key take-aways on Forum topics including:
- How to build a more effective relationship with your clients (messaging and language)
- Staff utilization and specific actions on more effectively leveraging credentialed veterinary technicians
- The heavy economic toll of burnout and ideas to address it
- The behavior of financial decision making
- Trends in revenue and client demand
You’ll emerge from this session with a heightened awareness of the economic opportunities and challenges confronting veterinary medicine, and a deepened understanding of taking a data-based, evidence-centered approach on solutions and recommendations for creating a more economically thriving veterinary profession.
Dr. Salois is passionate about applying economics, statistics, and communications to enhance the daily lives of veterinarians. He worked in private industry, government and academia before joining the AVMA in 2018 as director of veterinary economics. From 2014 to 2018, Dr. Salois served as director of global scientific affairs and policy at Elanco Animal Health, supervising a team of scientists in veterinary medicine, human medicine, animal welfare, economics, and sustainability. His group devised and executed a scientific engagement strategy, and built collaborative partnerships with universities, associations, and scientific societies. Dr. Salois earned his Ph.D. in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida and holds an M.A. in Applied Economics and a B.S. in Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida.
