Join the Multicultural Veterinary Medical Association for their second annual conference, RISE, taking place online November 11-13, 2022. Thanks to support from Maddie’s Fund, MCVMA is offering over 100 scholarships for students, new grads, residents and interns, non-profit veterinarians, and technicians and support staff.
The purpose of MCVMA’s annual RISE conference is to:
- Resource the veterinary profession with the information and tools necessary to take meaningful action on issues of racial diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Include the perspectives of people and communities who have historically been underrepresented in veterinary medicine
- Support current and emerging veterinary professionals in our collective goal to ensure that all communities receive the benefits of veterinary medicine
- Elevate the voices of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in veterinary medicine
MCVMA’s RISE conference is unique; it is the only veterinary conference in history to intentionally center and support speakers that are all Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Students will be able to learn from, connect, and network with a truly brilliant line-up of all BIPOC veterinary professionals. This has already had a deep and meaningful impact for BIPOC within the veterinary space.
The program is expansive, and we’ll be covering equity topics of race, gender, sexuality, and disability; making global connections and talking about animal welfare, vet school admissions, and access to care. There will be personal development topics on wellbeing; communications; finance/debt; practice ownership/management, and many student-focused talks, roundtables, and workshops. There will also be sessions for medical lectures from some of the best specialists and experts in their fields.
