The Wrap Act recycling and waste bill continues to wind its’ way through the Legislature, and with it the requirement to review packaging of animal drugs, thus putting at risk our ability to prevent, cure, or treat disease in WA. Thank you to members who have contacted their legislators with our message of the importance of exempting animal drugs. Let’s keep the fight going.
Next week, House Bill 1131 will be heard in the House Appropriations Committee and SB 5154 will be heard in the Senate Ways & Means Committee. Time is getting short to get our message across to legislators.
Earlier this week, we sent out an email to members and included a handout you can provide to your client describing the impact to animal and public health and to prompt them to contact their legislators. It’s critical that veterinarians and animal owners make their voices heard.
Download the client handout and make copies to accompany your aftercare instructions. Urge your clients to call or write. A sample letter is included.
The greater number of veterinarians and clients that make their voices heard, the better chance we have of being successful and getting animal drugs exempted!
