Open Volunteer Positions

Below are short descriptions of the open volunteers positions with WSVMA. If you are interested or would like more information, please email [email protected].

PNWVC Program Committee – Equine Committee Member

Help to design and plan the program/tracks for the PNWVC – which will include reaching out to potential speakers to discuss speaking availability, topics and compensation. If you are comfortable reaching out to industry representatives for sponsorship, that would be an added bonus. There is a commitment of attending a once a month Zoom meeting (virtual) which last approx. one hour in addition to the work needing to be completed outside of the call and that time will vary based on need. We need one volunteer for this position with three year commitment if possible – please do not let the yearly commitment deter you from applying. We can make accommodations on this if needed. Equine background required.

One Day CE – West Side

Want to get your CE for free? Two veterinarians are needed to plan Sunday afternoon CE programs on Washington’s west side. Includes choosing the topic, communicating with the speaker and helping on the days of the programs (includes passing out name badges and moderating the session). WSVMA staff does the rest. There are typically two programs a year, one in January and one in May. Open to veterinarians only. Four hours of CE will be awarded per program.

One Day CE – East Side

Want to get your CE for free? Two veterinarians are needed to plan a Sunday afternoon CE program on Washington’s east side. Includes choosing the topic, communicating with the speaker and helping on the days of the programs (includes passing out name badges and moderating the session). WSVMA staff does the rest. Currently, there is one program planned annually in April. Open to veterinarians only. Four hours of CE will be awarded.

Trustee – WA State Animal Health Foundation

The Washington State Animal Health Foundation is WSVMA’s charitable arm. We’re reforming the Board of Trustees who will oversee all activities of the Foundation, including student scholarships, disaster and emergency management projects, as well as our newest program – partnering with AVMF’s Veterinary Charitable Care Fund to raise money so our members can provide more care for those less fortunate. We’re looking for four to six volunteers to serve, some of which can be technicians, staff, or passionate public members. Fundraising activities will be a primary focus with regular electronic meetings. Trustees serve for three-year terms.

Blog Contributors (WSVMA Website)

We need individuals to write blog posts for our website’s community blog. These can be research posts, case studies, informational posts or stories from your career. They need to be long-form, approx. 500 words or more. The time needed for this is completely dependent on you and although we’d like to hear from you more than once, this can be a one-off volunteer opportunity. Here is a link to the blog guidelines, which you’ll need to be logged in to see: https://wsvma.site-ym.com/blogpost/1780669/Member-Blog. We would ideally like all our members to participate and there is no cap on this opportunity.

Content Creation Volunteers

Provides information needed to create pamphlets, brochures, info-graphics and more for public facing material. Will help with the creation of products to help our members connect with their clientele and project a positive public image. Depending on the project this can be a few hours or more per month. You will be a contact for WSVMA staff on information and a sounding board for new material. We will need several members on a rotation for up-coming projects including redesigning brochures, creating social media material and resources for pet owners. We would like upwards of 50 volunteers or more to help submit material.

Forum Moderators  (WSVMA Website)

Submit content to provided threads to keep conversations in forums moving forward. Will scan topic threads to ensure guidelines are being met and report any that are in violation. Help members understand the guidelines and direct them to the appropriate places to find information. Moderators will need to check on their topic(s) and post thoughtful content multiple times per week. We are in need of approx. 15 volunteers to start off this program – but will wait-list more as the community grows.
