Veterinary Board of Governors seeking large animal veterinarian from E. Wash. to serve on Board

  |   Professional News, State Regulatory

The Veterinary Board of Governors (board) is looking for a large animal (as the majority of your practice) veterinarian to apply to serve on the board. They are looking for public-spirited people willing to study the issues and to make decisions in the public’s best interest.

The board operates under legislative mandate to:

  • Protect the health and safety of the public.
Promote the welfare of the state by regulating the competency and quality of health care providers under their authority.

The board is made up of five licensed veterinarians, one licensed veterinary technician, and one public member, all appointed by the governor. Members’ responsibilities may include policy making, writing advisory opinions and rules, reviewing investigations, and participating in disciplinary hearings and charging panels. The Board meets approximately four times each year. Historically, meetings have been scheduled on the first Monday in the months of March, June, September, and December. Members also participate in conference calls.

More information about the Veterinary Board of Governors is available at their website.  To apply, visit the Dept. Of Health website and click on the link that says Application – Governor Appointed to apply. Applications are due no later than Oct. 23, 2020.
