WSVMA Power of Ten Leadership Class Launches Wellness Podcast Series – Ready Vet Go! Living Your Best Veterinary Life

The Washington State Veterinary Medical Association (WSVMA) announced this week a new podcast series, Ready Vet Go! Living Your Best Veterinary Life. The series is produced by the 2019 Power of Ten Leadership Academy and covers important aspects of wellbeing to better educate and empower all veterinarians. Topics in the series include client education and communication, giving and receiving feedback, student loan management, personal finance, cyberbullying, practice leadership, work-life balance, and mindfulness and stress management. Interview guests include well-known veterinary leaders such as Dr. Andy Roark, Dr. Tony Bartels, and Dr. Richard DeBowes. Episodes are available from the WSVMA website and from major listening platforms.

The podcast features the following eight episodes:

  • Client Education and Communication with Dr. Richard DeBowes
  • A Case of severe Cyberbullying with Dr. Abby Whiting
  • Feedback Fortitude: An Expert’s Guide with Dr. Andy Roark
  • Student Loans with Dr. Tony Bartels
  • Money Management with veterinary finance expert Darby Affeldt
  • When to Be a Leader & When to Be a Friend in a Small-Knit Group with Dr. Marguerite Pappaioanou
  • Mindfulness and Stress Management with Dr. Laura Baltadano
  • Work-Life Balance – Does it Even Exist? with Dr. Gary Marshall

The WSVMA Power of Ten Leadership Academy is a year-long training program for recent graduate veterinarians to help them develop foundational skills in leadership, communication, and business. The Academy is entering its fifth year and has graduated thirty-nine veterinarians. Members of the 2019 class are Drs. Kayte Anderson, Sarah Blackburn, Melissa Boyer, Blair de Vries, Stelian Fuduli, Raina Penn, Jamie Peterson, Makensie Santiago, Jen Stonequist, Shawna Wedde and Courtney Wiese. The group is led by Dr. Lindsey Hornickel and WSVMA CEO Candace Joy.
