Advocating for the Veterinary Profession
The WSVMA employs a legislative advocate who monitors year round the legislative issues and potential rule changes that affect the veterinary profession. This allows an unmatched presence and influence for veterinarians in Olympia, within the legislature, and also within committee meetings and regulatory agencies affecting our profession. The WSVMA has saved WSVMA members over $5 million since 1985.
Public Relations for the Veterinary Profession
The WSVMA employs a public information director to work with media and increase public awareness of important topics as well as to promote the veterinary profession and the value of veterinary services. Additionally, the association’s public information director is a key reference for matters of business communications, employee relations, Washington public information laws and practices, and marketing and promotional ideas for individual practices.

WSVMA.org – a Premier Veterinary Resource for WA the Veterinary Profession
The WSVMA website provides the latest news, client resources, classifieds, events and information at the touch of a button. Through the Members Only log in, access resources on the topics of animal welfare, public health, practice management and wellness. New grads and students have a dedicated section of the website with resources pertinent to being a new doctor. Members update personal information, renew dues, and register online for continuing education.
Annual Member Services Directory
Published annually, this highly valued directory is provided free to members. It contains contact information of all veterinarians in Washington along with frequently requested phone numbers of various agencies and entities. It’s the most utilized publication among Washington veterinarians.
Cutting Edge Continuing Education
The WSVMA provides cutting edge continuing education to help members stay abreast of the latest advances in veterinary medicine. WSVMA members receive significantly lower rates than non-members to attend quality continuing education programs provided each year by the association.
Client Brochures that Educate and Inform
The WSVMA publishes brochures for you to share with your clients such as Spay & Neuter, If You Lose a Pet, Infectious Diseases, and more. Download them off the WSVMA website or order a pack of 25 from the WSVMA office.
Urgent Issue Broadcasts
WSVMA members receive timely information on high priority issues including pet food recalls, disease alerts, and other emergencies. Through our blast fax and email service, WSVMA members can stay abreast of important issues necessary to practice successfully.
WSVMA Guide to Veterinary Law
Have you wondered how long you must keep your records? Or wondered whether you’re protected if reporting animal abuse? A new dedicated section of the WSVMA website will have links, FAQs and resources on veterinary legal issues. Organized by topic, members will be able to go online and find information on licensing, veterinary practice, pharmacy issues, animal laws, business resources, employer resources, hazardous waste information and more.
Members receive confidential help for personal issues through the WSVMA-endorsed Washington Physician’s Health Program. Such issues may include and are not limited to depression, anxiety or substance abuse.
